Communication and Relatives

Three thoughts for the day.

I went and spent time with my great grandma today. As I have become older I have grown to appreciate her more and more. It is fun to listen to her wisdom and experiences that she has had in her life. I see her as a person now and not just as that grandma that loves to spoil her great grand kids. Looking forward to spending more time with her.

Talked with my mom and aunt today about relationships and communication. Both my mom and aunt have gone through a divorce. We talked about how guys and girls have basic communication skills that are different from each other. My aunt told us about a study preformed with two 11 year old boys and two 11 year old girls.
Two eleven year old boys were put in chairs both facing a wall. The boys stared and the wall and after some time one boy started to talk about a video game he played. He stated he got to level 37 in the game. The other boy would talk about that game and how he got to a higher level. The conversation would continue with the mail goal of the two boys being to "one up" each other. Mainly talking about themselves and accomplishments they have done.
The two girls sat in the same room staring at the same wall. The first thing they did was turn their chairs facing each other to be able to talk eye to eye. They started there conversations with questions like, how are you? how are you feeling? More personal questions about each other. They also talked eye to eye with each other.
In conclusion the basics of male communication seemed to be establishing dominance. Guys typically will not speak to each other eye to eye because it as seen as a challenge. Girls need to talk eye to eye and be able to see emotions expressed in the face.
This causes many relationships to have fights where the wife gets mad at the husband for not looking her in the eye. Then when the husband tries to leave the area and conversation the wife follows and asks for that eye to eye contact.
There are guys that have learned to be able to communicate through a feminine side. As well as girls who communicate through a masculine side. These skills are developed by the environment and friends who are around the people. As guys spend more time with friends that are girls, they learn how to communicate with the female gender. As well as girls spending time with friends that are guys, tend to develop an ability to communicate and associate more with the male communication habits.

Third thought was just the thought that as money comes, money goes. Received lots of money today. And have it pretty much all spent in the same day, for housing, food, tuition etc.
Funny how that works...
